Happy New Month to all current and intending members of Imo State Business Link Magazine Network.
The seemingly unyielding wave of insecurity in the country since the beginning of this year has indeed become extremely challenging to the entire Igbo business community across the globe. Our people are shaken by these situations of unsafety in most parts of the country. But, thankfully, in the midst of all the turbulence, God has seen us through half of the year. And I have a strong faith that He will continue to see us in good health through the rest of the year, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Is it not amazing that despite the security setbacks we have all experienced in the recent past, we are even more encouraged by our circumstances to come much closer together in trust and love? For us at Imo State Business Link Magazine, trust is the Key Word. At this and any other stage, demand and supply among Igbo business men and women scattered all over the world and among their numerous world-wide business associates cannot be enhanced if we lack trust among ourselves as business people.
I have a strong belief that if this level of business association can work smoothly in America and Europe, it can work in Nigeria. All our people need do is disabuse their mindsets from those get-rich-quick-anyway tendencies and become authentic and reliable business individuals who can be trusted to negotiate business neatly and see it through without avoidable hitches.
Last month, we had the ugly experience of being duped in the tune of N52, 500 by a fake Kogi State business man whose business was not verified or listed on our website. But somehow, he beat the system to advertise his Kalahari goats for sale on our Group FB. Some goats were paid for, but with the connivance of a lady member of Imo State Business Link Magazine Network on whose platform the items were advertised, the goats were never delivered after payment. Of course, the lady was taken off the system immediately.
This sort of thing should not happen here. We want to set the example of how the Igbo business community and their friends across the globe can trust and depend on each other as genuine business men and women concerned with the demand and supply needs of our people. We cannot do so by shooting ourselves in the leg and criminalizing the very brand of demand and supply strategies we have worked so hard to put in place, sustain and are improving on.
To counter such devilish practices in the future, the management of Reach-Out & Link-Up Ltd, Publishers of Imo State Business Link Magazine decided to adopt a policy where only verified businesses that are listed on our website can be approved to use our social media forums to advertise their products and services. That policy remains.
On another level, I would want once again to remind network members who are yet to pay up their 2021 subscriptions to do so immediately. It is only N5, 000 for the year. Pay to the UBA account No. 10 18 95 64 51 of Reach-Out & Link-Up Ltd, Publishers of Imo State Business Link Magazine.
And for those who have paid, there is urgent need for you to upload your company or business advertisements from various angles at least 3 times a week on our Group Face Book and WhatsApp forums. In such a way, network members and other people will come to notice your presence and engage you.
